Einleitung.
Man soll nichts über die Litteraturen lesen also auch nichts über sie schreiben. So will ich sagen, wie man lesen soll. Aufgabe der Philologie.— Warnen vor dem gew Lesen.

Am wenigsten stimme ich dem bei, welcher mit Dekorat Scene Maschinerie zu Bayreuth unzufrieden war. Viel zu viel Fleiss und Erfindung darauf verwandt, die Phantasie in Fesseln zu schlagen, bei Stoffen die ihren epischen Ursprung nicht verleugnen. Aber der Naturalismus der Gebärde, des Gesanges, im Vergleich zum Orchester!! Was für geschraubte erkünstelte verdorbene Töne, was für eine falsche Natur hörte man da!
